Privacy Policy for WiFi Signal Survey

Scope

This policy describes how the current Android version of WiFi Signal Survey accesses, stores, and shares information when you monitor Wi-Fi signals, record surveys, and create reports.

Information accessed and stored

The app accesses Wi-Fi information supplied by Android, including connected and observed network names (SSIDs), access point identifiers (BSSIDs), signal strength, frequency, and observation times. It derives band and channel information when available and displays the connected network’s link speed when Android provides it.

Recorded surveys store network names and identifiers, signal readings, frequencies, timestamps, session names, session status and duration, and any labels or notes you enter. Notes may include location descriptions or other personal information you choose to provide. Saved reports contain copies of survey information, including network identifiers and notes.

This information is processed locally on your device. The inspected app does not send survey information to the developer, require an account, or provide cloud synchronization.

Permissions and location

The app requests precise and approximate location permissions because Android restricts access to Wi-Fi network identities and scan results. System Location services may also need to be enabled. The current implementation uses these permissions for Wi-Fi observations; it does not request geographic coordinates or background location. Wi-Fi names and access point identifiers can nevertheless reveal information about places.

The app also uses Wi-Fi and network-state permissions to read connection information and request scans. Network details and scan timing depend on Android and your device settings. You can decline or revoke location access through Android settings and continue reviewing saved surveys, although live observations may be limited.

Survey recording runs while the app is active and pauses when you leave it.

Purposes

The app uses this information to display Wi-Fi conditions, show signal changes and observation times, record measurement points, calculate minimum, average, and maximum signal values, manage saved surveys, and generate text summaries and CSV reports.

Sharing and third-party services

The current implementation contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting service, or developer-operated upload service. The inspected dependencies include Android and Compose components and a coroutine library; no third-party data-collection SDK was identified. Although the Android manifest includes Internet permission, no application feature that transmits survey data over the Internet was identified.

Information leaves the app when you choose to share a text summary or CSV report through Android’s sharing interface. Reports can include network names, access point identifiers, timestamps, signal measurements, labels, and notes. Review the contents before sharing. The receiving app or recipient handles the shared information under its own practices and may transmit or retain it.

Security

Surveys and saved reports are stored in the app’s private local storage. Android backup is disabled for this app. For sharing, the app creates a local cached export and grants the selected receiving app read access through a non-public content provider.

The inspected implementation does not add application-level encryption to stored surveys or reports. It does not implement a server connection requiring encryption in transit; any transmission by a receiving app depends on that app. No storage or sharing method can guarantee complete security.

Retention and deletion

Saved sessions and reports remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app’s stored data. There is no automatic expiry period in the inspected implementation.

You can delete individual sessions or saved reports, or use “Delete all local survey data” in Settings. Removing a labeled point clears its label and note but retains the underlying signal observation. Saved reports are separate copies: deleting a session or changing its notes does not remove information already copied into a saved report.

Sharing creates cached text or CSV files. These files have no scheduled expiry in the app and may remain until Android clears the cache, you clear the app’s storage, you uninstall the app, or a successful save leaves no sessions or reports and the app clears its export cache.

Deleting local content does not delete copies already shared with other apps or recipients. Manage those copies through the receiving service or recipient. You may contact mateuszbednarski696@gmail.com for deletion assistance, but the developer has no in-app remote access to erase surveys stored on your device.

Children’s privacy

The supplied information does not establish a target age group. The current app has no account or age-collection feature and no advertising or analytics SDK was identified. Its local storage and optional sharing practices apply to all users. Children using the app should avoid entering personal information into notes or sharing reports that reveal private locations or network details.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the app’s features or information handling. Review the latest policy when using an updated version of the app.
